More Penny Black Inspiration

I wanted to make another Penny Black card as there are so many artists that I admire there, for this one I chose Elizabeth Allan and was inspired by THIS gorgeous card of hers.  Go and take a browze through her blog, you will be coming out of there filled with ideas!

Here is the card I created:

Paper: cardstock (PTI); Neenah
Ink: Copics; Memento; Scattered Straw & Antique Linen DI
Stamps: Penny Black (Poppy Poem 4036K; Cicular Design 40-046; Illumination 30-048)
Other: crystal stickles; dimensional squares

I used some rustic white cardstock and stamped the Circular Design with Scattered Straw and also inked the edges lightly with the same ink.  I then adhered that to my notecard.

And then I went and made it all complicated!  I stamped the Poppy image 3 times, once on the white panel for the card, and twice on some Neenah cardstock.  I then coloured in the leaves and fussy cut them out and became visually impaired in the process! Then I coloured the stems and buds and cut those out and pieced them back onto the main panel, using pop dots for the buds.  And lastly I coloured the poppy twice and cut out the inner and outer petals and pieced them back onto the main image, letting the centre piece pop very slightly off the main petals!  I then applied some stickles to the centre of the flower.

Lastly, I pierced some holes in the two opposite corners to create a bit of a frame and applied some Antique Linen ink softly around the edges.

So that is my subdued take on Elizabeth's fabulous card!  I just love how her flower has so many possibilities to pop up those petals, the dimension she achieved was awesome!

Thanks for stopping by!  I was quite busy in my craft room last night so I may be back later with another post!  Have a fabulous day!

Why do we do that to ourselves - all that "fussy cutting"?! Because the look is amazing! Cute story, Brenda and lovely card. That piercing is just perfect - I had forgotten about doing that. Have a great weekend.
