Sending Hugs

Hero Arts is taking part in the OWH World Card Making Day Blog Hop and they are offering an awesome prize.  All you have to do is make a card today and comment on their blog with a link back to your card.

I try never to pass up a Hero Arts challenge as they have been super generous to me personally, and many others, and I do love their stamps.  So today  I dug out a buttervly stamp I have not used in a while and made this card:

Paper: notecard (Hero Arts); Neenah; patterned paper (My Mind's Eye - Hattie 6X6 paper pad)
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black; Copics; Hero Hues Poppy Chalk Ink
Stamps: Hero Arts (CG130; CL542; CL380)
Other: scalloped edge punch (Stampin 'Up); dimensional tape; white enamel accent

A nice easy design and one of my favourites!  I stamped the leaf repeatedly with the chalk ink onto the notecard.  Then simply laid down a piece of patterned paper, a sentiment strip and finally I stamped and coloured that beautiful butterfly.  I added some White Enamel Accent to the spots on the wings and when I adhered the butterfly to the card I only glued the body down and used some dimensional tape under the wings!  I like it, do you?

Dogwood

I was inspired by the design that Sharon used on this card for her Hero Arts Dogwood stamp, I just had to give it a go as I have a digital stamp I won from Joy's blog some time ago, the stamp is from Tiffany Doodles.

Other: Jute; Tiny Tags Die (PTI)

Nothing to explain really.  Quite a bit of intricate colouring to get into small places without making a mess and colouring outside the lines.  I found that the best way is to turn my stamped image as I go instead of trying to move my hand into all sorts of weird angles to colour.

Just kept this one plain and simple.  I think I just needed to sit and colour, some kind of therapy!

Flying Stars

That's the name of this Penny Black wooden stamp I found at Hobby Lobby in a sale basket while I had 30 minutes to spare waiting on a pharmacy prescription!  I saw it, I loved it, I bought it!

Paper: Hero Arts Notecard; PTI Cardstock; Neenah Solar White
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black; Copic Markers
Stamps: Penny Black; Hero Arts (butterfly); PTI (sentiment)
Other: White Enamel Accent; Dimensionals; Glossy Accents; EK Success tag punch; Corner Chomper

I first stamped the "Flying Star" image on white cardstock and coloured it in with copics.  I then assembled the card as shown.  The little sentiment is from the PTI Tiny Tags stamp set. I added some glossy accents on top of the sentiment, it just looks cool in real life.

I the stamped the butterfly twice on white cardstock and coloured each one with Copics.  I adhered the one butterfly directly on the card and then the second on top of the first using dimensionals.  And I added some White Enamel Accents to the top butterfly.

Kathy's Challenge

(Second post of the day)

There is a really interesting and fun challenge going on over on Kathy's Blog!  Actually the challenge was between her and two crafty and talented friends, and Kathy has decided to open it up to all for a whole week.  Go check it out.  Basically colours have been provided as a guide, as well as a sketch, (but you need to read Kathy's blog post).  Here is the visual guideline:

You don't have to use those exact Copics, or copics at all, but just those colours, and you can add some neutral colours in too.

Here is my submission.

Paper: PTI Cardstock, Neenah Solar white
Ink: Copics, Memento Tuxedo Black, Memento Rich Cocoa
Stamps: My Favourite Things, PTI
Other: White gel pen, Corner Chomper

That gorgeous little girl is coloured in with the copics mentioned, no blending with other shades.  I used the same blue for example to create some shading on the dress by simply applying more of it where I wanted some shading. I did add the neutral skin colour, (she could not be left stark white, really!).

I created the fun border using one of those tiny, often neglected, little stamps that was in one of my PTI stamp sets, and then the faux stitching with my white gel pen.  The sentiment is from PTI.
