Hero Arts November Contest

I am actually particiapting in this month's Hero Arts contest, (I thought I would never find the time, but I did).  After making so many XMas cards and tags for the Craft Market I am so ready to change gears and I used this contest to nudge me along.

It wasn't easy because I kept gravitating towards my XMas paperpacks, I really had to have a serious talk with my brain!  So I put this card together, getting really confused about which elements to use on it.  So I took out my big binder that has all these plastic sleeves that hold six 4X6 photos and which now hold my Hero Arts clear stamps (thanks Trinh, this was actually an idea I got from you when you were visiting in Houston), and I saw that beautiful "Special Time" stamp set:

Paper: cardstock (PTI); Neenah; patterned paper (MME: Winter Wonderland) & (Simple Stories: Fabulous)
Ink: Versafine Onyx Black; Festive Berries & Iced Spruce distress ink
Stamps: Hero Arts
Other: Twine; Clear Embossing Powder; Gem (HA)

I think I'll use it for a masculine birthday.

On another note, I am so happy for my buddies who are having a great success with their first Craft Market.  It has been jam packed every single day!

Not sure how my cards/tags are doing, and not sure I really want to know.  Here is a picture of my little spot in the market:

(Yes, that is the birthday decor I made for my friends' hubby, but she asked if she could recycle it and I said yes, she just replenished the suckers.)

People can be strange about "homemade" items.  You know, they say that they don't want mass produced items, they really want to support the locals etc... they really want something unique.....and then when it comes to the crunch they still have this "feeling" that handmade/homemade = cheap.  Human nature, it's a weird thing!  I just want my work to find a "good place" to go to, that's all.  Next year I am seriously going to look into a good "cause" for whom to make cards, the elderly, the sick, small children.... that gives me so much pleasure.

Well, that's it from me today!  Thank you all for always taking the time to come and visit!

The hanging banner is delightful in the upper corner with the fabulously offset "circle of time" overlapping the patterned paper strip!

GREAT take on the color combo, Brenda! I love the little banners with the clock image. I don't use that stamp set enough, sadly. I also store part of my clear stamp collections in plastic sleeves--most economic and convenient way, I think! I love the look of your craft table at the market. I totally understand how you feel when it comes to handmade items! It's better that the handmade cards go to people who appreciate them! So for those people who didn't pull out their $$, it's their loss!

Love how your card turned out after your battle, Brenda!

Your craft corner looks beautifully decorated and I would be the first one to pop by your store if I were to be there! It's a pity that some people cannot appreciate handmade products but luckily there are still people out there who do appreciate!

this is a great little card! I love the whole design and think it is one that can be used over and over again... your kiosk looks great...and I hope you sell alot. I agree with you that too many people think that homemade means "cheap" instead of "slowly made with love".

A wonderful use of the colors, Brenda. And, I love the layout you have used. I have that set and didn't really like or use it, but now I will give it a second chance. Those little flags are adorable. Thanks for sharing all that you do - I feel like I really am getting to know you - and I sure love having you here!
