A New Sign & A Card

That's the sign outside my house today!  Yes, we are leaving (sorry Lisa, Cindy - they both know), we are going back home to South Africa. I am happy, but it is sad that I have to leave some fabulous people behind!  I really, really, wish that you could come in my suitcase, I really do.  But, now you have some planning, plan on visiting me!

I won't bore you with the details, but my hubby is basically working a mere 3 hour flight away from South Africa most of  the time, so it's an easy calculation, it's better than his current 24 hour flight!  Plus, South Africa feels more like home, that's the truth!  There are lots of things I am going to miss of course, but most importantly, it's some of the amazing people I know!

Time frame - June, after Natasha finishes her school year.

Ok, I do have a card, (my blog is not going anywhere), it may be a little quiet for a month or two while we wait for our shipment, but I will still be there, and I will be here until the end of May.

Paper: cardstock (PTI); designer paper (MME - Dilly Dally); Neenah
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black & Smokey Gray; Copics;
Stamps: Hero Arts (Heart Winged Butterfly; Envelope Pattern background stamp)

I have to say that I love that Dilly Dally 6X6 paper pad from MME!  Look at that woodgrain paper, isn't it exquisite!  I also used the reverse side to paper piece the larger hearts of the butterfly and coloured the remaining hearts with Copics.

I'm going to add this card to the current Lily Pad challenge to use patterned paper and to the Hero Arts contest for the theme of Hello/Friendship.

Well, it's nice and cool outside, but the sun is trying to come through.  Not much planned today, a few errands and then Natasha has Gymnastics after school. Maybe I'll craft a bit today as I did all the cleaning yesterday.  I hope you all have the most wonderful day!

I'm happy for you to going "home" Brenda! And so glad you're sticking with your blog, it's a good way to keep in touch with your friends. Oh I just want to give you and your best bud Lisa a hug, must be so hard for you both.

But now about this card ;) CUTE! The wood grain is so realistic and the paper your butterfly is on reminds me of screen. So it looks like it's perched on a window!

Brenda I am sooo happy for you. I know how much you missed South Africa. I am happy to hear we will all still get to be with you through your blog.

Wonderful colors on the butterfly and I love the wood grain texture.

It's always sad to move away from friends but it sounds like your move back to South Africa will be a good one for your family. At least with the internet the distance will seem shorter.
Your card today is so fabulous! I'm loving the those pops of color on the pieced butterfly; the papers are really wonderful. I'm so glad you added this beauty to the challenge gallery at Lily Pad Cards!

It is always hard to leave but the most important thing is that you will be together as a family and that is where "home" is. Happy for you :) and I agree that keeping your blog is just like being right next door! Love your card for today. Keep us posted :)

These papers could not be any more fantastic! The wood is so realistic! Love the grungy sort of butterfly as well :)

I have an extreme dislike for the sign in the yard tho..... :(

Hi Brenda, so pleased for you, it must be so exciting knowing you are going back home. I know you will miss Lisa and your friends but with the internet its so easy to keep in touch. You will be able to skype Lisa whenever you feel lonely and miss her. Hope all the move preparations go well for you.
Hugs Sallyx

PS I would buy as many craft items as you can as I know they are so much cheaper in the states!!

Hi Brenda! I am so happy for you and your families move back to South Africa! But I know that you have an amazing friend who is also your neighbor. And your friendship is not something that everyone has so I know it will be hard for both of you. But South Africa is home! Good luck packing it's never fun! I love this card, the colors and design are so pretty! :>

It sounds like this will be the perfect transition! Although you will be terribly far and I will miss you in the sense that our time zone difference will be further! Glad to hear you will still keep on blogging til the time to move! Love your card! You do butterflies so wonderfully!

Hi Brenda! Wow-that is so conflicting for you....on one hand you must be so happy to heading back to your home but on the other hand it must be so hard, so difficult to leave your friends and the new home that you made in Texas. I am so happy you are planning on keeping up with your blog....that way we can still be "neighbors"....and keep up with each other. I love our card today....very, very cool!

Oh my goodness, that's quite a move for you and I KNOW your friends are going to miss you tons! The bigger question is, will you be able to access all your necessary crafting supplies? LOL Your card is absolutely stunning, Brenda! I love the neutrals with pops of green. The paper pieced butterfly is amazing!

I'm very happy for you Brenda as the move sounds like a natural progression.
Your card is beautiful and I love the contrast with the background paper!

I'm so happy that you are going home as you've missed SA so much! It must be hard for you as well as for your buddy, Lisa as both of you have shared so much during the recent years!

We shall still keep in touch via the blog world and good luck with the packing!

Love how you combined the envie with the woody pp and the touch of the butterfly!

Brenda, it sounds good that you are moving back to SA - more important to have your hubby home quicker and less tired after traveling like he does. There will always be good and bad advantages.
Love your masculine card today (well I think it could be).
Thanks for your lovely comment on my blog yesterday - so happy you love Jamie Oliver too and go for it - a good Paella is a real treat for the family!

I'm happy you will be closer to your family, Brenda! But I'm sad I didn't get to hang out with you more. Hopefully we'll see each other again before you move.

Love the texture & colors on your card!

oh my Brenda.... what a big decision to make. You will be sad leaving your friends in the USA but it will be nice to be close to family. I do hope you will be safe. I love the card today. It is wonderful

Brenda....I had to read your blog post twice to make sure I read it correctly. How sad...but I am happy for you. I know it must have been hard to be so far from your family and for your husband to travel so far. Please keep your blog active and if there is anything I could get for you just let me know!!
Beautiful card!

I'm rather late making the rounds - my life exploded - :~D Love the simple elegance of this! Thank you so much for playing and sharing at the Lily Pad!.

On a related note, Brenda, I'm sorry to see that you're having to leave your American friends, but so happy that your family will be getting what is, I'm sure, a more satisfactory arrangement for quality time together! This is what's so great about the Internet - we can all still visit no matter where we live! Hugs & Blessings....
