Thank You Mariposa

I wanted to  make one more card for the Hero Arts May contest, and I see that OWH has a "Things with Wings" challenge, and my card also fits in with their Sketch #68

The background to the card is that Lisa, my friend, told me about a 50% sale that Hobby Lobby is having on their paper packs and I went and purchased the DCWV - Mariposa stack, it's just so beautiful and filled with buterflies!  And secondly, I wanted to make a dimensional flower with a butterfly appearing to be landing on it or about to take off.  So here it is:

And here is a side view to better see the dimensions.
Paper: Cardstock (PTI); DCWV Mariposa Stack; Neenah Solar White; Hero Arts Notecard
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black; Forest Moss, Spiced Marmalade & Vintage Photo DI; Copic Markers
Stamps: Hero Arts
Other: Gems (stash); Glitter; Crackle Accents; Black Enamel Accents

To make the flower, I stamped it and coloured it twice using my Copic markers.  I then cut around each petal of the top flower and adhered it to the bottom flower using pop dots, but for every alternate petal I used a double stack of pop dots to create more dimension.  I hope that makes sense?!  I added some black enamel accent to the stamens and some pearls to the flower centre.

To make the butterfly, I stamped it on Neenah White cardstock with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and then I inked the entire butterfly with some Spiced Marmalade DI.  I then cut it out and inked around all the edges with some Vintage Photo DI. I covered it thickly with Crackle Accents and added a little bit of glitter to the crackle accents when it was wet!  Lastly I adhered the butterfly, once dry, to one of the petals!

It's a different kind of card for me, but as I said, I was inspired by the paper to make it just like this and I have been wanting to make that flower dimensional for the longest time!

I know the card is impractical to actually be used by OWH so I won't be sending this one, but will make another similar one, just flatter and no glitter even though this glitter is very well embedded.

Thank you for popping in for a visit.  It really looks like rain out here, but will the drops actually fall?  Not sure, right now it's just super windy!  Have a wonderful day!

I really like your use of enamel accents and pearls on the flower. Glad to know you're making a flatter version for OWH because I'm sure heroes will be clamoring for this card.
