Something Different

Sometimes I try to get myself to do something totally not me, and this card is it!  So I cannot really tell you on a scale of 1 to 10 how much I like it or not, but I don't dislike it, it's simply something different for me.

I wanted to use some patterned paper, I wanted to use an ink colour I had never used before and I simply wanted to use a background patterned stamp, not leaves, not people, not animals etc...

Here is what I got:
Paper: Kraft (PTI), Neenah Solar White, Patterned Paper (My Minds' Eye)
Stamps: Hero Arts
Ink: Versafine Onyx Black, Vintage Photo Distress Ink, Vineyard Berry (CTMH)

A really simple card, an easy layout, nothing really spectacular, but it's nice!  No need to even really explain how I made it, that's how straightforward it is.  It's actually a nice relief really. I don't know about you, but I do find that I often stress myself out about making a card!  I so badly want to make a card, and then I sit and stare for hours on end at the walls, at magazines, flick through some blogs etc...and eventually, much later, I get one card made!  No wonder I can never manage to fill a whole box for OWH every month!

Ok, forget the New Year's standard dieting and more exercising resolutions, I need to commit to being more focused when it comes to card making, instead of trying to start with 50 ideas in my head,  I need to find something to focus me??? What???

Like a theme or colour challenge, or perhaps to only use my scraps, or maybe only patterned paper with one sentiment stamp, or a specific sketch to follow....Oh boy, this is exactly why I am hopeless at New Year's resolutions, I cannot follow something so rigid, I need to feel it inside me, the trigger has to be more emotive...

What do you do when you find yourself sitting there with 100 different ideas and nothing to show for it!  How do you get back on the crafting track and actually produce something or more than one thing?  I would really be interested.

Have a fabulous Christmas Eve!  My parents in-law are coming to spend today and Christmas with us!  I am really thrilled, and my daughter is filled with excitement!  See you all again on the other side of Christmas!
