A New Friend

You know, it pays to acknowledge people!  And that includes the blog world and the Flickr world!  I have been so lucky to receive such wonderful admiration from total "strangers" in the Hero Arts Flickr group, and now my blog!  It really feels so great to read peoples comments about your work, especially when you approach your work with care and a desire to create something wonderful for someone else!

So, back to todays' card, this card was made for a new friend, someone who reached out to me and wanted to send me a card for always giving her sweet comments about her work, so I recipricated and sent her a card too, which she has now received, so I can safely post my card details.  But before posting mine, here is the fabulous card I received from Sanne!

Now how did Sanne know that this Hero Arts butterfly is my all time favourite butterfly!  And I just love the Olive Green colour mixed with the red and then added to Kraft cardstock, a match made in heaven!  I totally love that background Sanne created, the colours are a perfect match!  And the butterfly is all sparkly with what looks like gold glitter!  Thank you Sanne, this is so wonderful!  I urge you to go to Sanne's Blog and browse through her creations!

Now onto my card.  I loved making this card, it came out exactly the way I had imagined it in my mind!  And the process of making it, wow, that was touching really, because I knew it was going to a new friend, and that meant so much!  So, enough sentimental stuff, here it is!  This is the card I sent to Sanne:

Paper: Cardstock (PTI), Patterned Paper (unknown), Neenah Solar White cardstock
Stamps: Hero Arts, Ali Edwards
Ink: Brushed Corduroy Distress Ink, Juniper Ink (CTMH), Turquoise Blue Glimmer Mist
Other: Sewing, Glossy Accents, Nestability Die Label 8

It started with that piece of patterned paper that is now hardly visible.  It was such a beautiful turquoise blue paper embossed with raised areas that felt like velvet.  I inked the edges with Brushed Corduroy, and then  sewed it onto a panel of Aqua Mist cardstock which is adhered to an Ocean Tide card base.

The main panel is Rustic White PTI Cardstock cut out using a Label 8 Nestability Die.  I sprayed it with Turquoise Blue Glimmer Mist and inked the edges with Brushed Corduroy.

I stamped the sea shells from Hero Arts using a Juniper colour ink onto Neenah White cardstock, cut them out and inked them each with Brushed Corduroy. The one shell is adhered with dimensional dots which looks great in real life.  I lightly inked a grass looking stamp also from Hero Arts and stamped it on the right hand side of the panel.  The dragonfly is stamped with Brushed Corduroy and covered with Glossy Accents and also adhered with dimensional dots.  The sentiment is from Ali Edwards at Technique Tuesday.

I think this is the second time ever that I have created something in these colours, and I really like it, it is so peaceful and gentle.

Well, thank you for stopping by today!  Take the time, jus a minute, to appreciate someone, even a total stranger, who knows what awesome wonder could be in store for you!
