Teacher Birthday Card

My daughter's teacher celebrates her birthday this Sunday and I had mentioned to the class Mom that I was a card maker and so she asked if I could make a card from the parents, and of course I said yes.

So using all her favourite colours and her love for nature and my new love for Inktense Pencils, I made her this card which I will also enter into this week's Simon Says Stamp challenge to use a bit of Green and
Hero Arts' Monthly Contest this time going for the Spring feel.

Paper: cardstock (PTI); watercolour paper
Ink: Versafine Onyx Black; Versamark; Derwent Inktense Pencils; Worn Lipstick Distress ink
Stamps: Hero Arts (Pom Pom Flower; Lattice Background stamp); PTI (Happy Harlequin - sentiment)
Other: dimensional foam; pearls; PTI Tiny Tag die; white ep; clear ep; Twine (The Twinery)

The Lattice background is white heat embossed and the flower is also heat embossed with black ink.  Both the background panel and the flower are elevated with some foam adhesive.

I'm loving the intensity of the colours.  I love how these pencils are super, super easy to use and so smooth.  I used two techniques to create the background, first  scribbling directly on the heat embossed watercolour paper and then going over it with a wet paintbrush, one colour at a time (I only used two pencils).  And then I used the direct method where you take your waterbrush to the pencil tip and pick up colour that way, it helped to intensify the colours.  Lastly I wiped the entire background with a wet baby wipe, and voila, the colours blended just like that!

Have a wonderful day!

That background takes my breath away, Brenda - WOW! I have resisted buying those pencils (already have 3 different sets of pencils), but you are making the case very strong. Love this sweet card - bet it made a classroom hit.
