C & S Day 8 - Techniques

What an awesome class we had!  The girls shared some beautiful techniques, namely, DIY inkpad, stamping with watercolour and salt, and Plaid Stamping!  I love all three techniques and had no idea which one to choose.....

DIY inkpad -  maybe, just maybe, I was a tad lazy for this one and I would have preferred to have the proper materials so that I could keep the stamp pad for a few days.

Plaid stamping - oh yes sir....until I tried to find a stamp with which I could actually do this technique and by 11h30 last night I gave up looking and trying.

Salt & watercolours - ok, I went for this one as  I had just recently done it for an Art Journaling lesson.  It's not my best card, maybe it was just too late at night, I was tired and more interested in "What's Apping" my buddy Lisa!  We had such an awesome conversation, it really felt like she was right here, in my craft room!  (Gosh, I still miss you so much friend!).

Ok, the card before I get too teary eyed:

Paper: cardstock (PTI); watercolour paper; Neenah
Ink: Archival black ink; various distress markers; Brushed Corduroy distress ink
Stamps: Hero Arts (Exotic Bloom; Tree, Birds and Messages)
Other: Embossing folder

Here is a closer look at the effect of adding salt to the wet inked panel and letting it dry (and then wiping the salt off).

A little salt goes a long way, a lot, goes a long, long way....like cover your entire panel!

I now need to catch up with Day 9, and Day 10, the final day, is about to go up!

Have an awesome start to a great weekend! (I'm running my first Half Marathon on Sunday since April last year and they say it's going to be around 88F, that's kind of warm....Wish me luck!)

I'm with you about not having the right stamp for the plaid thing...I'll have to keep looking! Love your salted technique! The gold and black are so striking together- and so funny-I almost the exact embossing folder and at the last minute changed my mind and went with the dots!
It really was great talking to you yesterday- it always is!
Have a great weekend and I'll be thinking of you on Sunday! Best of luck :)

Brenda, I love the color choice and the effect you got with the salt. I'm wondering if I am using too little salt?? But it's a fun, if messy, technique!! Your card is gorgeous!

I'm way way behind with the classes Brenda and think I'll be like you...and just try the salt technique. I do like you card. The colour looks stunning with the silhouette stamping.

Stunning, my dear! Love how you used this hot new technique and the perfect colors you developed. Love that you still feel so connected with your dear friend Lisa - almost as good as being together. Take care and thanks for sharing.
