Just Playing & Learning from a Child

Here is a card I made just because I wanted to make something with birds.

Paper: cardstock (PTI - rustic cream); designer paper (MME - Lost & Found: "Market Street")
Ink: Memento (Pistachio; Rich Cocoa)
Stamps: Artistic Outpost (Bluebird); Hero Arts (Special Note of Thanks)
Other: Lace trim (stash); corner chomper

For probably a year now I have been researching via  google the art of "Art Journaling".  Something about the art of free expression appeals to me.  But the truth is that I am intimidated by it all, you know, how am I going to draw like some of the artists out there, how does one doodle like that, how does one know what to write, what should the theme be....bla, bla, bla....analysis paralysis!  But it's starting to take form, slowly...

So,  I was googling on Pinterest and Natasha came and sat next to me wanting to know what I was looking at so I explained it to her in my own simple words and up went her ears and her interest and, less than a day later my little girl has, in a very casual manner, created her own first Art Journaling piece, all on her own, in a very rudementary way, but it's what she wrote that just touches me really deeply...

And so she beats me to it in a very profound way!

Wishing you a wonderful  day!

What a great birdie card!
Well done Natasha! Kids are a lot less intimidated than we are when it comes to doing something Ike this. Give it a whirl as I'm sure you will enjoy the free structure of art journaling

This is so precious, Brenda! I love that Natasha took this on and look at her inspired result! It is beautiful :)
If only we as adults were so uninhibited....I would love to do this sort of thing as well, but would spend my days and weeks over-analyzing the whole process and never get anywhere!! I hope you have better luck with it!

I think it's wonderful that you're looking into Art Journaling, and how awesome that Natasha took your words to heart and is creating her own! It's so sweet - just love it!

Hope you're all doing well - how are the travel plans going? :)

Brenda this is a lovely post to read.
Your card is gorgeous !

Natasha's first steps in art journaling made me sigh. So gorgeous and the idea behind her first pages is heartwarming. Straight from her heart onto paper; she's talented. I am in awe..

Your post really tugged at my heart Brenda! We should all take a cue from your daughter and let go of all that holds us back from freely expressing our creativity:). Your card is so pretty!

Hi Brenda, I love your card. It looks stunning. The combination of lace, pp & stamping. Such an elegant card. I adore what Natasha made. What a great page.

It's strange that you are looking into art journaling, as I've been doing that as well. I have gone a slightly different route though. I'm combining it with a 365 Grateful journal. So even if I don't do art in it every day. I write in it almost every day. I think like you do (very intimidated by it all) but thought what the heck. Have a go & see if nothing else you can keep card ideas in it.

Hello Dear Brenda,

What a beautiful post! Your card is gorgeous and I suppose if you could let go of that analysis paralysis (which I'm all too familiar with, you would do marvels with that art journal concept!) Maybe Natasha's effortless grace will have sparked the desire to just "start and let it out" whatever comes out comes out...

Have a beautiful week-end my Friend!
