Hero Arts September Contest

I decided to play along with the colour challenge in this months Hero Arts contest.  I try not to miss a month if at all possible, and I am barely making this one by the skin of my teeth!

We don't really celebrate Thanksgiving or Fall here in South Africa but I have to say that Fall has some of my favourite colours!  After eventually "seeing" a picture of what I wanted to make in my head a day or so ago I actually managed to get to sit down last night and make my card.

Paper: PTI Kraft cardstock; SSS watercolour paper
Ink: Walnut Stain, Forest Moss, Wild Honey distress ink; Vineyard Berry (CTMH)
Stamps: Hero Arts (Tree, Birds and Messages; Season of Giving; Lattice Background)
Other: Perfect Pearls water mixture; clear embossing powder; corner rounder; pop dots; Eyelet Circle  & Circle Nestabilitie

After much colouring with a paintbrush and distress ink I finished my background using the Lattice Stamp which I clear embossed in Walnut Stain. Yes, some of the colours ran into one another but I am ok with that, I was not looking for a perfect finish. I then popped it up on my circular die cut card.  Stamped some leaves and a pumpkin, coloured again, trimmed and adhered over the sentiment strip with more pop dots.

On the home front all is well.  I took my mountain bike for its first short ride a day ago and promptly crashed....twice!  I have some nice bruises to show for it.  It's going to take a few practice rides to get comfortable, I don't particularly like the downhills or the feeling of my feet in cleats!  I am more than happy to ride uphill, and of course I prefer running because my feet are firmly ON the ground!  But I really want to give mountain biking a go, you can cover so much more distance and there are so many beautiful off road trails.  Any advice from lady mountain bikers would be welcomed!

I came across a crafter here in Pietermaritzburg while I was googling and we hope to meet up next week for a cup of coffee.  So nice to know that there are like minded people in the same small town!

Not sure what our plans are for this morning, all I know is that it is going to be hot, hot, hot here today!  Have a fabulous day!

The card is fabulous, Brenda! Such a great idea to put all the colours on the latrice.

Not a mountain biker but cycling is my way of transport over here and I love it especially when the fresh and cold breeze blows onto my face!

OH, Brenda, this is SUPER-GORGEOUS! You've created a real "winner", as far as I'm concerned. I love the colors, shape, design, and background. Actually, I love everything about it. Great job!

I'm sure you have lots of beautiful off-road trails to see, but do be careful.

How FUN that you will be meeting up with another fellow-crafter.

Sending you HUGS!

I totally am in love with this B! The lattice looks beautiful colored that way and it almost looks it was stamped it in gold, but I guess it's just embossed! Gorgeous!
It's a pretty little fall card :)
