What's Up with Watercolouring!

This month's contest technique over at Hero Arts is to use watercolouring on a project.  To see the full details of the contest make sure to pop over to their blog.

I was inspired by how Jacqueline used the Simple Frame from Hero Arts to create a frame (of course) around a scene.  Hers is breathtakingly beautiful, you can view it here.  And I was also inspired by Tiffany's son's school project that they created using a fun set from Hero Arts called "Let's Chill".  So, combining some elements from both I created a very simple fun card.

Paper: Notecard (Paper Studio - Hobby Lobby); Neenah Solar White
Ink: Various Distress Inks (Tumbled Glass; Shabby Shutters; Mustard Seed; Vintage Photo; Antique Linen; Brushed Corduroy); Versafine Onyx Black; Desert Sand Dye Ink (CTMH)
Stamps: Hero Arts
Other: Corner Chomper

My conclusion is that although this card may be considered cute, my watercolouring stinks!  I don't have any technique really, I just put some distress ink on my craft sheet, spritzed with water, pick it up with a thin paint brush and paint!  That's exactly what Shari does in her technique video here, but hers looks awesome and mine looks blah! Oh well, I will continue trying!

I leave you with this photo of this stunning hot air balloon that passed right over our house around 8am this morning, oh to be this free!

Marvelous, Brenda!Love your painting and the scene reminds me of my holiday in the Caribbean last year (minus the sweet crab though - LOL).

Your watercolouring is fabulous, Brenda! It looks so smooth, way better than my first few attempts at pencil colouring. ;) Now, if I had more than two distress inks, I might give water colouring a try! LOL
