Summer Card Camp 2011 - Week 1 - Day 1

(Second post of today, so scroll down if you want to see a non-related card).

With my family being here it was touch and go whether I would be able to participate in this very exciting event with Jennifer McGuire and Kristina Werner,  but when my sister told me that she wanted me to help her make some cards I thought, well ok, I can combine both, this will be a win-win situation!

So at a very late hour last night I joined the Camp.  Of course I could not sleep, (neither could a whole lot of other campers judging from some comments), and I was up at  3am checking out the blog, reading my PDF's and viewing today's technique video.
So I am a day behind, but here is what I decided to do with their awesome colour challenge:

Paper: PTI cardstock; Neenah
Ink: Versafine Onyx Black; Versamark; Spun Sugar, Tumbled Glass & Dried Marigold Distress Inks
Stamps: Hero Arts (S4878; S5507; F5158; CL286)
Other: Clear Embossing Powder; Gems (Hero Arts); EK Success Scallop Punch

I stamped a strip of orange cardstock with the Envelope Pattern stamp and Dried Marigold distress ink, then used my scallop punch on it. I stamped the Old Letter Writing in Spun Sugar on Neenah cardstock and adhered that to the card base.  The Heart Winged Butterfly was stamped with versamark and clear embossed.  I then sponged some Tumbled Glass with a dauber to colour the butterfly.  I trimmed it and adhered just one wing to the card, the other wing has a dimensional square lifting it off the card.  A few sprinkles of pale purple gems and a sentiment, and I was done!  This was all done at 3h30am by the way!

Now I want to go and make a window card with some acetate!  This looks like it's going to be a very exciting 4 weeks with lots of interesting tips!

Wishing you an awesome day!

Oh, there are so many things I love about this card, Brenda! The heart-winged butterfly is one of my all time favorites (and I haven't used it in a long time!) And, the scallop punch is so beautiful. The background script is subtle, but so pretty here. So glad you could sign up for the class - I think it's gonna' be fabulous!
