Hero Arts have a sketchy contest going on in view of National Scrapbook Day this past weekend. The deadline is the 13th of May and the Giveaway is fabulous! I used their sketch, which I was very sceptical about, to make a card. And whilst making the card I decided to use the colour challenge that Kathy is having over at Lily Pad. Both of these were very challenging for me, I don't do well when there are too many colours and when the sketch is very "sketchy" with lots of bits and pieces!
Here is the sketch:
And here is the colour throwdown:
And here is my card:
Paper: PTI cardstock; Basicgrey patterned paper; Neenah Solar White
Ink: Versamark; Versafine Onyx Black; COpic Marker; Memento (brown ink); Tumbled Glass & Shabby Shutters DI
Stamps: Hero Arts
Other: Stickles; Stampin Up scalloped punch; Gems
I pretty much followed the sketch to a tee, just lengthened the sentiment strip a bit. It's not a fancy card, just a fun one. I love those little bees!
I partially stamped and clear embossed the "Life of The Party Dots" in the left hand corner. The beige panel (this is the colour I could not make out from the challenge), is stamped with the Magical Background using brown ink and I added some stickles to some of the swirls. The bees were stamped on two shades of turquoise cardstock, cut out and popped up with dimensionals. I added some glossy accents to the wings.
The smaller panel was made by first stamping that flower with versamark and clear embossing, then inked with Tumbled Glass & Shabby Shutters DI for a resist look. I felt that they looked really plain so I added the turquoise dotted line to each petal and a brown sparkle to the centres. I cut out 4 little green corners and added that onto the frame. The rest is self explanatory.
I hope you like it and that the bees make you smile! Have a wonderful day!

Kudos to you, B, for making something cute out of this sketch. It's a tough one! I love the little bees, and yes, they do make you smile:) I also like how you added the dots to the flowers- perfect extras touch!
Cute card, Brenda!
Total cuteness!! I keep wondering if I should get that stamp set. Hmmm... :)
Wat too cute! The pattern papers, the bees and flowers all look great on kraft!
