PTI's Think BIG Challenge

This is day 8 of the Papertrey Ink festivities celebrating their 4th Anniversary.  The challenge today is to make a card with something really Big/Gigantic on your card! (Go try it out, they are also giving away the most generous prizes). Ok!  I gave it some thought for a while, and knowing that I needed to make a male birthday card made me come up with this:

Paper: PTI cardstock
Ink: Tea Dye Distress Ink, Juniper dye ink (CTMH), Versafine Onyx Black
Stamps: PTI, Alli Edwards (part of the sentiment)
Other: Twine by Jillibean, Nestability Die

Part of challenging myself was to try out a new colour combination from one of PTI's members', and this colour combo happens to have been mentioned as Erin's favourite.  You know what, I really like it, I think it's perfect for a male type card.

I die cut the biggest star I have from Nestabilities.  Then I stamped it with the Background Basics: Woodgrain stamp from PTI using Tea Dye ink, I also inked it around the edges a little.  I then stamped the sentiment which is a combination of a big "Smile" from Ali Edwards (I love her fonts), and then a sentiment from PTI's Star Prints set.

The middle strip is stamped using the Juniper ink and PTI's Polka Dots Basics stamp.  I finished off with a little chocolate brown twine.  The star is also popped up with dimensional dots.

I really like how this card turned out.  I know that it's quite simple in design, I toyed with stamping the base card with something to create a bit of a background, but then decided against it, sometimes plain is good!

I may be back later, if I ever get to finish those Valentine treats!

It is a great card Brenda. And I agree, background stamping would have taken away from the focal star.

Absolutely gorgeous! I love the woodgrain star and the mix of sentiments. I've been looking for some star die cuts. You are full of inspiration!
