Inspired to Try Something New

I was visiting Emily Leiphart's blog today, and she totally inspired me with her awesome box frame card.  It totally blew my mind and gave me an instand idea for a Valentine's card.  The tutorial for the Box Frame Card can be found HERE on Splitcoaststampers website.  It's not difficult, I just wish that the sides could come together a little tighter.  I will be playing around with this tutorial to see if I can achieve that.  But here is what I created:

Paper: PTI Cardstock, Neenah Solar White, Making Memories (patterned paper)
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, Victorian Velvet & Vintage Photo Distress Ink, Versamark
Stamps: Hero Arts
Other: Pearls (Hero Arts)

The centre panel was what I prepared first, it's a small panel measuring 3" X 3".  I stamped it with the Old Letter Writing stamp in Vintage Photo and inked the edges up in the same ink.  The butterfly from Antique Engravings was stamped in Vintage Photo on the patterned paper (this was a very valuable lesson I learned from Jacqueline, no need to waste scraps of beautiful patterned paper) , cut out and partly adhered with dimensional dots. And I added a pearl to the body. And finally I stamped the sentiment.

The frame itself is made up of two pieces of paper scored and folded at various intervals, but before doing that I stamped it with that heart flourish from another Hero Arts set using Victorian Velvet (what a yummy colour!).  Then I created the frame (you'll need to read the details in the tutorial).  I also stamped the card base with the same heart flourish stamp using Versamark.

Thank you Emily for that inspiration today.  Please go and take a look at her absolutely awesome card with gorgeous Unity stamps, stunning colour combination too!

Thank you for passing by.  Have a great evening/morning (it's almost midnight here).  I guess I need to go to bed, I have a 7 mile run in the morning. Be good!

Wow, Brenda, this is gorgeous!! I love your version and colours. I think I need to make more of these. LOL I know what you mean about the sides not being tight. I'm thinking about adding mini glue dots to hold them together. I hope you had a great run this morning, and thanks for the shoutout! :D
