Give me a Kiss!

Have you seen the new contest theme at Hero Arts for February!!!  Just awesome.  I love when they encourage us to challenge ourselves to try some kind of technique, and yet also cater for anyone who may not be comfortble with that but would be fine with a theme or a colour scheme!  I think that is just great and really provides encouragement for new stampers.  So if you haven't participated in a contest there yet, please go over to their blog and give it a try, it's really worth it.  And they are very generous with their prizes.  I was actually announced as one of their lucky winners yesterday for tags I made in last months contest!
So it's real, anyone can win!

I wanted to try the "kissing technique", where you stamp one stamp over another stamp, with or without ink, before stamping on paper.  It's not something I remember to do, you know, one of those techniques that one "files" away and then kind of forgets about.  But I was truly thrilled how this one turned out.  Here is my card:

Paper: PTI Kraft cardstock, Neenah Solar White
Ink: Poppy Chalk Ink (Hero Arts), Vintage Photo & Wild Honey Distress Ink, Memento Tuxedo Black
Stamps: Hero Arts
Other: Tiny gems from Mark Richards (Michaels)

I started off by stamping  a few butterflies from my most used Hero Arts set called "Antique Engravings" in Vintage Photo Distress Ink.

Then onto the centre panel.  I inked up the "Edged Fabric with Flowers" cling stamp with Poppy chalk ink and the "Friendship Definition" cling stamp with Vintage Photo Distress ink and stamped the latter over the first stamp.  Then I stamped the first stamp onto my white cardstock!  And I loved the result!  That brown over the yellow just looks amazing!

I then adhered the centre panel to the card base, stamped and cut out a little dragon fly whose wings I inked up with some Vintage Photo and Wild Honey.  I adhered the dragonfly with some dimensional dots. I also adhered three tiny gems to its body.  Finally, I stamped the sentiment.

I love the look of Vintage Photo Distress ink on Kraft, they work so beautifuly together.

So I am submitting this in for this month's Hero Arts contest.  Don't forget to submit yours!

We are still waiting for that supposed snow, we just have ice at the moment.  Oh boy, if we don't get even a light sprinkling of snow my daughter is not going to be happy!  Wishing you all a wonderful day!
