Holiday Thinking Inking Techniques

I did some catching up and watched a few of Jennifer McGuires' "Holiday Thinking Inking Techniques" videos over on Two Peas.  And that then inspired me to try out a few things.  This card uses a number of the inking techniques that Jennifer explained.

Paper: Hero Art Notecard, Neenah Solar White, Glossy White Paper

Stamps: Hero Arts

Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, Clear Embossing Ink, Broken China, Vintage Photo, Peeled Paint, Wild Honey and Fired Brick Distress Inks

Other: PTI Christmas Tree Die, Flower (Color Me Crazy), Button from my stash, Twine

I cut out a circle of white paper, inked up my Friend Definition background stamp with four distress inks and stamped it on the circle.  I then used my blending tool to ink up the circle with those same 4 colours and also added some Vintage Photo around the edge. Then I spritzed the circle with some pearlized water and wiped with a cloth to smudge it a bit.  So in real life that circle has some shine!

I die cut the tree using glossy white paper which I then stamped with the Flourish background stamp inked with clear embossing ink.  Dried that thoroughly with my heating tool and then directly applied the Peeled Paint Distress ink to the tree and wiped away the excess.  This then left that swirl really popping out!  I tell you, I just loved that particular part of the process, I think the whole smoothness of it, it was just really satisfying.  I applied a bit of Vintage Photo to the tree edge to make it stand out.

Now that flower!!!  Here is a close up:

Isn't it just beautiful!  I really love how it turned out!  I mixed some Fired Brick Distress Ink, water and Perfect Pearls Powder on my craft sheet and painted this flower (which was white) with a paint brush, literally drenching it!  I am so surprised it actually survived the whole experience!  Then I was not satisfied that it was red enough, so after drying it, I pounced Fired Brick directly onto it, but look how shiny it stayed!  Then I simply added a button and a bit of twine.  The sentiment is also from Hero Arts!

I had such fun!  I am not really good at matching up colours, I just believe in doing my own thing, but I do try to look at my colour wheel from time to time.  I did struggle to decide on the colour notecard to use and then decided that this colour was close enough to the Wild Honey Distress Ink and allowed the stamping to stand out.
