Going Out of My Comfort Zone...

It sounds so silly now that I am writing it down, this hesitation to try a new colour! When I was the lucky one to be picked by Hero Arts for a comment I left on their blog I was given the choice of deciding which hue of Hero Arts goodies I wanted to go with.  So, I decided on the sunshine colour scheme and received this awesome goodie box of items including their most beautiful Fabulous Flourish stamp.

Well, my Mom is arriving this Sunday from South Africa for a visit (oh, I have missed her so much in these last 6 months), and she will be celebrating her 70th birthday whilst she is here!  So I thought that using my winnings to make a card would be the great thing to do. 

She is still very young at heart, so I kept the card young looking.  Unless otherwise stated, everything is from Hero Arts on this card. The card itself is the Daffodil folded card which I will insert into the matching envelope.  The card base is stamped using the Fabulous Flourish with Poppy chalk ink.  I then created a panel by stamping the Tall Flower with Memento Tuxedo Black ink on Neenah Solar white paper and coloured it in with Copics.  I also added a little butterfly stamp, I love butterflies.  The sentiment is made up using two different stamp sets.  I added a little glitter to the flower. (I don't often get to use glitter because most of my cards go to OWH and glitter is a no-no).

I know you might think it's a sin covering up that beautiful Flourish stamp, but I like the way it just peeks out.  Truth be told that lovely stamp does intimidate me a little, but I will eventually get the courage to do something with it that is worthy of its beauty!
