Father's Day

To continue with the Masculine theme over on Hero Arts and to add to my OWH box, here is another manly card, and quite retro.

Paper: PTI Cardstock
Ink: Black Soot DI; Chipped Sapphire DI
Stamps: Hero Arts; Stampers' Anonymous (splatter stamp)
Other: Tim Holtz embossing folder; clear embossing powder

I embossed the front of my notecard with one of the Tim Holtz Sizzix embossing folders, as I was going for a bit of a retro look.

The centre panel, in the same cardstock, is adhered with pop dots for dimension.  On this panel I first stamped the splatter stamp in the one corner.  Then I overstamped the same corner using some of the circle elements from my Hero Arts clear stamp set (CL124).  The sentiment is stamped in Chipped Sapphire and clear embossed.

I am getting quite a lot of mileage from this circle elements stamp set from Hero Arts, after sitting in my cupboard for probably 2 years unused!  Strange how we change!

It's different, I kinda like it.  What do you think?

Hero Arts Inspiration

On Friday Kelly over at Hero Arts posted a picture of a gorgeous sofa with the most beautiful different coloured ruffled cushions and encouraged us to make a card based on the inspiration we got from the photo. I was totally inspired by the pattern on the actual sofa as well as the colours of the cushions!

I stamped the Large Fabric Design cling stamp using Olive dye ink onto Neenah Solar white cardstock and used the PTI Edgers die to cut the edge.  I inked all the edges with some Vintage Photo DI.

I stamped one of the circular stamps from an old Hero Arts set several times, coloured them in with my Copic Markers, cut them out, adhered them and added a matching pearl to each.  That's it!

I just like all the colours. See you later!

Flower Girl

I adore the Pure Innocence line from My Favorite Things, and I love their dies!  Here I used the Flower Girl image (I just cut off the daisy and I did not use the grass beneath her feet).

The card is self explanatory, but I just want to mention the flowers.  I love that new die from MFT, it cuts the 3 flowers and the 3 centre pieces.  I just love the shape, so pretty!  I stamped the actual flowers with the Envelope Pattern stamp using Tumbled Glass DI, and also inked the edges with the same ink.  Then I applied those beautiful skittles over the pink centres and I popped up two of the flowers for dimension.  Love those flowers!

For Dad

Another attempt at a masculine card.  I used two of the car images from the Hero Arts "Going" set, and of course, my favourite, the Envelope Pattern stamp!

I first stamped the notecard with the Envelope Pattern stamp and Vintage Photo DI.  The bottom strip of cardstock was stamped with Latte Chalk ink using one of the little cars from the "Going" stamp set to create a pattern.  I then stamped one of the bigger vehicles onto patterned paper and cut that out.

The two circles holding the tag with jute are from the "Typewriter Alphabet" stamp from My Favorite Things.  I just adhered them with pop dots and put a brad through the centre to hold the jute.

Hoping you are having a good start to your Sunday if you are in this part of the world.  I have just had a very pleasant 9 mile run, there was a lovely cool breeze which was really nice for a change.  Now I have quite a number of household chores to do and a pile of paperwork to enroll my dear daughter into Kindergarten this Tuesday!  So excited!

Cutie Pie Megan

There are so many crafters out there that inspire me.  Today I want to mention Tiffany whose work I adore mostly because of the exquisite colours she combines, the beautiful use of the most gorgeous patterned papers and I find that she does not over embellish her cards, which I love, she adds just enough and she is capable of many different styles!  Go on over and look at her work, it's totally amazing, every single piece of art she showcases is beautiful.

So today I tried to be more colourful, and I was thinking about my niece Megan in South Africa.  So, what better time to actually colour in an image from The Greeting Farm called Megan!

I really loved colouring in this cute image!  I just love her wild curly hair!  The blue strip of paper was actually a piece from a Hero Arts notecard which I stamped with a tiny heart I found in one of my Lawn Fawn sets.  The sentiment is also from Lawn Fawn.

She looks very bossy!

What's Up Dog?

I have another card for the current Hero Arts April Contest, and I decided to use another one of Shari's sketches.  I also decided to go masculine, with a sense of humour!  A long, long time ago I bought a few of the "cutsy" stamp sets from Hero Arts and to be honest, I have not used them enough, hardly actually.  I think the reason is that I have been looking at life too seriously perhaps, and that then translated into my card making.  But now that I am meeting so many different and talented crafters out there, in a sublininal way I think I am pushed to explore more, to loosen up a little, to see the funny side of life from time to time. So here goes....

I pretty much followed the sketch like a good little girl!  It's such a nice sketch anyway. The dog, after being stamped with the Envelope Pattern stamp was cut out and adhered with some pop dots.  In retrospect maybe the circle should have been done in a beige colour to match the patterned paper, the white looks very stark even though there is white on the bone embellishment.

I hope you are having a great Saturday.  I am going to post another card that I made just for the fun of coloring with my Copics.  Then I am off to take my daughter to a birthday party at the gym, she always has such fun there.

Copic Challenges!

Today my friend Lisa stamped off the image of Daisy from The Greeting Farm so that I could see what I could do about colouring her hair!  Well, it was a challenge and the result is less than pleasing!  I have no idea where to put the dark bits or the light bits!  I have watched tons of tutorials and it still does not look right. Ok, I have to admit that if I don't have the exact colour, or maybe there is one shade missing then I tweak it a little but my colours are never far off.  I find that when it's a huge mop of hair, or any largish open area to be coloured then I struggle.  Is it just me?

Practice, practice, practice.... that is what I will have to continue doing!  After battling with the hair for at least, if not more, than 30 minutes, the rest was fairly straight forward.  I applied some glossy accents on her shoes, jacket and the flower in her hair.

You see that background, it was made with a circular stamp from one of Hero Arts' sets from quite a while ago, I like it.  I am enjoying more and more creating my own backgrounds.
