Unity August Sketch Challenge

I decided to make another card for the monthly sketch challenge over on the Unity Sketch Challenge Blog.  For this entry I used stamps from the January 2011 Kit of the Month.

Other: Crinkle ribbon; twine; button (MME); Dimensional foam adhesive; PTI Edgers Die #2; Corner Chomper

I used die cut a piece of cardstock using the PTI edgers die and then inked it with Tattered Rose distress ink around the edges for a softer, feminine look.  I stamped the flower from the Unity set 3 times using my stamp-a-majig for accurate placement.  I then coloured the flowers using my Copic markers.

I adhered the patterned paper to the card base before adhering the die cut/stamped piece.  I then added the embellishments of ribbon, twine and button.  The sentiment was stamped on cardstock which was also distressed with tattered rose and then I simply rounded off the corners.

I like the whole feminine look and feel of the card.  The patterned papers in that 6 X 6 paper pad are simply beautiful!

It's starting to really heat up again outside!  I am pretty sure we are going to get in the pool the minute my darling little Natasha gets home from school!

Unity August Sketch Challenge & CAS-ual Fridays Embossing Challenge

Unity have a monthly sketch challenge where you are required to use stamps from one of their Kits of The Month (KOM).  Here is this month's sketch:

My card also happens to have some embossing on it and fits into this weeks' CAS-ual Fridays challenge to use embossing (dry or wet) on your card.

I happen to have the August 2010 KOM and decided to try and use it with this sketch and I landed up with another CAS design.

Paper: PTI cardstock; Hero Arts orange layering paper; Neenah
Ink: Tumbled Glass & Broken China & Spiced Marmalade Distress ink; Versamark; Memento Tuxedo Black

Other: Clear embossing powder: gems (Kaisercraft); Dimensional Squares; PTI Edgers Die #1

I used the PTI edgers die (one of my favourites) on a piece of white Neenah cardstock and also purple PTI cardstock.  On the white piece I stamped the background birds in Versamark and embossed with clear embossing powder.  I then used the emboss resist technique with two shades of blue distress inks.   I adhered that onto the purple cardstock I had also die cut and then adhered that onto the white notecard.

The little pink heart is clear embossed on pink cardstock.  The actual bird is simply stamped with Spiced Marmalade on orange cardstock and trimmed before adhering to the notecard using dimensional squares.  And I finished the card off by placing three little gems under the sentiment.

Unity in Circles

I felt like playing with some neglected Unity stamps today and decide on the January Kit of the Month, "To the Moon and Back".  There is a cute "Snow couple" in there, and it's been so hot lately that I just needed to think "cool"!

Paper: cardstock (PTI); patterned paper (unknown); Neenah
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black; Copics
Stamps: Unity
Other: sewing

I added some sewing to the patterned paper before adhering it to the card base.  The snow couple was coloured in with Copics, trimmed and adhered to the patterned paper.    Then I just stamped the sentiment on a strip of Neenah cardstock and made it into a banner.

I noticed that Unity's monthly challenge is to use circles, so as there are circles on the background paper I will add it to the mix!

Playing with Unity

I am enjoying playing with my Unity goodies!  Here is another cute quick card I made last night.  I wanted to use this cute little bird house that I got in my "Grab Bag" I purchased the other day.  Isn't it cute!

Paper: PTI Cardstock, Neenah Solar White, My Minds Eye (patterned paper)
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, Copic Markers, Punch Chalk Ink (Hero Arts)
Stamps: Unity, Purple Onion Design (single birdie)
Other: Dimensional dots, EK Success Scalloped Border Punch

That strip of white with the line of birds comes from the January Kit Of The Month, but I just stamped the top row of birds.  The sentiment is from the "Lollipop Tree You & Me" set.

I popped up the birdhouse and then also the heart on top of that with some dimensional dots, quite cute in real life.

I'm going to enter this card for this months' "Heart" challenge over at the new Unity Challenge Blog, I just hope they don't mind that one tiny little birdie from POD?!!! It was just the perfect size and the only stand alone birdie stamp I have.

Heart Card for Unity

I wanted to make another card for the new Unity monthly challenge of "Hearts".  This is an extremely simple design, and I just love the soft untraditional colours.

Paper: PTI, Neenah White Cardstock
Ink: Juniper and Baby Pink Dye ink (CTMH)
Stamps: Unity (All You Need)
Other: Floss (We R Memory Keepers), Corner chomper, Cuttlebug embossing folder

No real explanations required I don't think.  I just love these pastel colours to convey a message of love.  I used two stamps from the Unity "All You Need" set.  I adore that spotty heart.  I also used the Cuttlebug Swiss Dot embossing folder to continue the theme from the hearts.

The sentiment is popped up with some dimensional adhesive.

All New Unity Challenge Blog!

How great is this!  Unity has decided to start their very own Challenge Blog!  It's apparently going to be a monthly theme, only Unity/Ippity stamps are to be used (I wonder if they will change that later, sometimes it's nice to use a different sentiment you have your mind set on, or maybe a background stamp).  Anyway, for now I managed.  Go and check it out on the link above. 

This month's theme was "Hearts".  Here is my take on it:

Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, Victorian Velvet Distress Ink, Copic Markers, Tombow Markers, Versamark
Stamps: Unity ( "Sending My Love" & "All You Need")

It's hardly noticeable, but I did stamp the actual note card with the heart stamp using Versamark, it is very faint though.

I masked that cutie owl in order to have him standing on a heart!  And then  I slit his little beak so that he could hold his love letter which is adhered with a little dimensional adhesive.  Isn't he too cute!  A very simple card, but Mr.Owl wanted centre stage and I couldn't argue with him!
